Allied Pilots Association (APA) is the Pilots Union for American Airlines, with around 12,000 members, the largest independent pilots’ union in the world. It started in 1963 when a group of American Airlines pilots broke away from the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). Its website states, "APA provides all of the traditional union representation services for its members. This includes the lobbying of airline pilots views to Congress and government agencies." [1]
