Dr. Anthony Cavalieri, "a U.S. citizen, is currently consultant to IFPRI and USAID. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biology in 1979 from the University of South Carolina, USA. He then joined Pioneer Hi-Bred International as a Research Plant Physiologist and, after holding a number of research management positions, in 1994, became Vice President of Pioneer and Director of Trait & Technology Development. Following the acquisition of Pioneer by DuPont in 1999, he headed the combined biotechnology groups for the company. Since retirement in 2003, he has worked in several consultancy and advisory capacities, including as Conservation Agriculture Advisor for The Nature Conservancy, the world's largest conservation organization. He served on the board of Chromatin, Inc., a startup biotechnology company. He is a Fellow of the Crop Science Society of America. He first became involved in the CGIAR system in 2005, when he did a 2-week review of CIAT's Agrobiodiversity Program." [1]
