Arthur F. Rosenfeld, of Virginia, was nominated February 10, 2006, by President George W. Bush to be Federal Mediation and Conciliation Director. Rosenfeld would replace Peter J. Hurtgen, who resigned. Rosenfeld had been appointed by President Bush in a recess appointment during the last recess of the Senate.
