Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. "educator and author, has twice won the Pulitzer Prize for history and biography. He was appointed special assistant to President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and served in the White House throughout his administration. A co-founder of Americans for Democratic Action, he was the Albert Schweitzer Professor in the Humanities at the Graduate School of the City University of New York before retiring in 1996." [1]

Noam Chomsky was critical of Schlesinger from the left in a 1967 article, The Responsibility of Intellectuals.
