Betsy Cavendish, Vice President of the NARAL Foundation, is also NARAL's Legal Director and General Counsel. As Legal Director, she spearheads NARAL's team of researchers and lawyers. Before joining NARAL in January of 1998, Ms. Cavendish was an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Law, and she served at the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel under Walter Dellinger. She also litigated cases on behalf of the United States for four years following her clerkship with the Honorable Gerhard A. Gesell during the trial of Oliver L. North. (She graduated from Yale University summa cum laude 1982 and the Yale Law School in 1988, where she was named the Outstanding Woman Law Student.)“ [1]
