Bowman Gray, Jr. was chairman of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in the 1960s and his father (James Alexander Gray) was the tobacco company founder's original business partner.[1]
Biography
Bowman Gray, Jr. was born January 15, 1907, in Baltimore, Maryland, and died April 11, 1969, at Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1929. Gray was married to Nathalie Fontaine Lyons (1884-1961). Their children include Bowman Gray III, Frank Christian Gray, Robert Daniel Gray, Lyons Gray, and Peyton Randolph Gray.[2]
"Bowman Gray Jr. graduated with a B.A. [from the University of North Carolina] in 1929. He later became president and chairman of the board of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem."[3]
Bowman Gray Jr. owned Brookberry Farm until his death in 1969. Also see:
