Brinker International is one of the world's largest casual dining companies. Brinker operates and franchises about 1,500 Chili's Grill & Bar locations in about 30 countries. Chili's trails Applebee's as the world's largest full service restaurant chain. Chili's specializes in southwestern themed dishes. Approximately 680 restaurants are franchisees, including over 200 international locations. In addition to its flagship chain, Brinker also operates Maggiano's Little Italy, a casual Italian chain with over 40 outlets and owns a stake in Romano's Macaroni Grill.

In the fiscal year ending in June 2010, the company reported sales of approximately 2.86 billion dollars and had 68,800 employees.[1]

Political contributions

Brinker International gave $94,308 to federal candidates in the 2010 election through its political action committee - 42% to Democrats and 56% to Republicans. [2]

Public relations & lobbying

The company spent $190,000 for lobbying in 2010 using three outside lobbying firm.[3]

Center for Consumer Freedom

Brinker International has donated to the front group Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF). CCF runs attack campaigns against health, food safety, animal rights and animal welfare advocates.
