The Bush administration and the Clear Channel Communications connection has recently been brought to light with the firing of Clear Channel's former "shock jock" Howard Stern.

"By now," writes Maureen Farrell in her March 4, 2004, BuzzFlash article "As the Worm Turns: Stern, Sully and the Bush Backlash," the "ties between the Texas-based Clear Channel and the President of the United States (George W. Bush) are legendary. Clear Channel's vice chairman Tom Hicks 'made Bush a millionaire,' while Clear Channel stations were a staple at 'pro-troop rallies,' which, by many accounts, 'were virtually indistinguishable from pro-Bush rallies.'"
