2007 Highlights

According to their 2007 Annual Report: [4]

"In addition to the inauguration of Father Freddy, 2007 saw some wonderful developments at the College. Among the highlights:

  • "The installation of a new water system for both the College and the town of Carmen Pampa. With the work being completed primarily by students, and the cost borne by a generous donation to CPF, the community now has access to a clean and abundant water supply.
  • "The new coffee production plant was inaugurated. With the US ambassador to Bolivia present for the ribbon cutting, the College took another step forward in its march to self-sufficiency. The entire College will benefit from the profits generated by the coffee business within the Agronomy program. The coffee production plant was paid for partly by USAid funds and partly by funds from CPF.
  • "A new department of research was inaugurated. Director Dr. Hugh Smeltekop began guiding students in their research projects.

The second entering class for the new Ecotourism program, 24 students, tripled the program’s size.

  • "An analysis of the Ecotourism program was conducted by Zach Pratt, which included valuable insights and suggestions for

increasing the effectiveness of the program. Expectations are very high that this program will become a key component in building the budding ecotourism industry of rural Bolivia.
