This website has a referencing policy which states that every piece of information in an article should be accompanied by a link to an authoritative source for that information. You can help us meet that goal by identifying articles that need better references and tagging them for further work. You can also help by fixing articles that have been tagged as needing references.

Identifying articles that need references

You can do this in one of two ways:

  1. Find an article related to a topic that interests you, read through it, and judge whether it needs better references.
  2. Select an article at random to review, using the random page navigation link in the left-hand column.

Tagging articles that need further work

  • If you think an article needs additional references, click on the "edit this page" link at the top of the article. (You must be logged in as a registered user to edit articles. If you are not currently logged in, use the using the "Log in" or "create new account" link at the top right of the page.)
  • To mark that a page needs further references, add a {{refimprove}} "template tag" at the top of the page, just as you see it here. It should begin with two squiggly brackets, followed by the word "refimprove," and then end with two closing squiggly brackets.
  • Finally, you can mark specific places in the article where you think citations are needed. To do this, simply place a {{fact}} tag exactly where you think the citation should go.

Fixing articles that have been tagged

  • Articles that have been tagged with {{refimprove}} are listed below.
  • For instructions on how to add references, read our references help page.
  • Once you have replaced all the places in the article that contain a {{fact}} tag, you can remove the {{refimprove}} tag.
