Catherine A. Novelli, the lead strategist for the Middle East Free Trade Area (MEFTA), joined the Washington, DC, law firm of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw in July 2005. "As Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Europe & the Mediterranean, Ms. Novelli coordinated U.S. trade and investment policy for over 65 countries of Western Europe, Central Europe, Russia, the NIS, the Middle East and Northern Africa" and "led trade agreement (FTA) negotiations with Jordan, Morrocco and Bahrain, Oman and United Arab Emerites."
