The Center for Media & Community at Education Development Center (EDC) promotes innovative uses of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to foster stronger communities and lifelong learning.

"Through projects, publications, and collaborations, the Center seeks to frame these emerging issues and develop solutions that can sustain the steady growth of digital literacy." [1]

Mission:

" The Center for Media & Community at EDC creates innovative educational models and promotes public policy toward the goal of strengthening education and economic development in technologically underserved communities around the world.

"The Center acts as a catalyst for change, linking policymakers, educators, donors, community activists, and technology innovators in collaborative partnerships to tap the potential of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for community development and social change.

"Established in 2004 by EDC and the Benton Foundation, the Center expands the legacy of the foundation as a pioneering leader in research and development related to the digital divide, education technology, and ICT literacy.

"The Center's funders include: The Benton Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Time Warner Foundation." [2]
