• Untitled, undated speech from Tobacco Institute collection to "Mr. President" complaining of harassment of the tobacco industry: "How long must the tobacco industry, which has played such an important role in the economic development of this nation, and which continues to be a vital contributor to the American economy, be treated with such disdain and outright hostility?"[1]
• December 11, 1986 Statement of John P. Rupp complaining of intimidation of scientists who planned to attend a secondhand smoke conference funded by the Tobacco Institute. The conference was being organized by Sorell Schwartz at Georgetown University.[2]
