David E. Kaplan

David Kaplan, "United States, is chief investigative correspondent at the weekly magazine U.S. News & World Report, where he covers organized crime, terrorism, and intelligence. His stories include exposes of Russian money launderers, North Korean drug dealers, Islamic terrorists, and American neo-Nazis. Kaplan is co-author of the award-winning book Yakuza, hailed as a definitive look at the Japanese underworld. He is also author of the critically acclaimed Fires of the Dragon on Chinese organized crime. His most recent book, The Cult at the End of the World, focuses on the Aum doomsday sect that released nerve gas in the Tokyo subway system. Kaplan has won more than a dozen journalism awards, including honors from Investigative Reporters & Editors, the American Bar Association, Overseas Press Club and the World Affairs Council."
