Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) "technology development programs support and safeguard America and its allies from weapons of mass destruction (WMD) - chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high explosives - by reducing the present threat and preparing for the future threat. DTRA conducts research and development (R&D) that transitions to military counterproliferation operations, such as the development of offensive and defensive tools to counter WMD threats, and creates and operates modeling and simulation tools for operations planning and hazards prediction."
