Derek Humphry is the British-born American journalist who founded the Hemlock Society U.S.A. in 1980. He is a past president of the World Federation of Right to Die Societies (1988-1999). [1] Humphry has over 30 years experience in the death with dignity movement. He helped his first wife, Jean, die when she was suffering from a lingering death due to breast cancer. His book about that event, Jean's Way, became a cult classic. [2]
