Duncan McDuffie "began his career as a real estate developer in 1905...

"He became Sierra Club president from 1928 to 1931, and from 1943 to 1946. In 1924 he helped create the state park committee that formed the state park system. As a leader of Save the Redwoods, McDuffie helped preserve several first-growth stands." [1]
