Floyd G. Brown is the Chairman of the Board of Citizens United, which he founded in 1988, and served as its founding President until 2000.[1] He is also president of Excellentia Inc., "a company specializing in marketing to conservatives and Christians"[2], described as "a new media company specializing in the IPTV[3] field."[4] Brown served 2001 to 2006 as Executive Director of Young America's Foundation.[5] In 1988, he was political director of Americans for Bush, which was affiliated with Citizens United. He also served as President of the Board of the Reagan Ranch, a division of the Young America's Foundation.[6] Brown is also the head of the Western Journalism Center.[7]

Brown is described as an "ultra-conservative" who "remains proud of the 1988 Willie Horton ad, widely denounced as racist pandering" by The Public Eye.[8] Brown is "perhaps best known as being one of the major architects, along with Lee Atwater, behind the infamous and racist Willie Horton ad that some credit to George H.W. Bush winning the presidency in 1988," Bryan Pfeifer wrote February 5, 2007, in The UWM Post, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student newspaper.[9]

Profiles

According to his Citizens United profile[10], Brown is "active in the Republican Party and was a delegate to both the 2000 and 1996 National conventions. In 1996 he served on that Republican National Convention Platform Committee. He has been an advisor and consultant to many political campaigns including the Bush, [Bob] Dole and [Steve] Forbes for President Campaigns. He managed the Dole for President Campaign in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota and Nebraska in 1988.

"He served in President Reagan's campaigns and as a political appointee in the Reagan administration. He credits President Reagan’s 1976 campaign, in which he served as a student volunteer, for sparking his interest in public service."

"Brown currently is also a member of the board of directors or a permanent standing committee of numerous civic and educational organizations. These organizations include the National Rifle Association, Citizens United, the American Conservative Union, and Michael Reagan's Legacy PAC."[11]

  • Note: Brown is President of the Board of Directors of The Reagan Legacy Foundation, "a non-profit, charitable organization founded by Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan." No mention is made regarding an affiliated political action committee.[12]

"Brown has written extensively for many magazines and newspapers including the San Francisco Chronicle, the Washington Times, National Review and Human Events. As a commentator he has appeared on numerous network and cable TV shows including: CNN's Crossfire, the CBS Evening News, ABC's Primetime, NBC's Today Show, FOX News, MSNBC and more."[13]

On Bill Clinton

Brown "published 'Slick Willie:' Why America Cannot Trust Bill Clinton, a slim paperback book distributed as part of a direct mail fundraising effort. The book is a right-wing tirade designed to document Clinton's lack of character. What it also showed was that Brown unabashedly mixes sexism and homophobia in his conservative analysis. Along with standard attacks on Clinton as a draft dodger and friend to labor unions, Brown asserts: 'Bill Clinton's America sees no difference between families of 'homosexual lovers' and the traditional, monogamous, faithful family...In addition, Mr. Clinton has surrendered completely to the pro-abortion feminists who dominate the Democratic Party.'" David N. Bossie was the "main researcher for Brown's Slick Willie book, and wrote for ClintonWatch."[14]

In his Citizens United profile, Brown describes his activities thusly:[15]

"Several Brown organized campaigns have been studied for their effectiveness; these include the effort to secure the confirmation of Judge Clarence Thomas, and the independent expenditure campaigns against Michael Dukakis and Bill Clinton. The anti Dukakis effort produced the famous Willie Horton commercial."

The "independent expenditure campaign" to which Brown refers was the Presidential Victory Committee, a successor Citizens United project to Americans for Bush.[16]

On Hillary Clinton

Floyd Brown invented the Reagan-era Willie Horton lie, helped create the Citizens United group, and now owns Liftable Media, including sites like Conservative Tribune (50th most-trafficked site in the USA) and Western Journalism (81st), whence came fake news stories like:

  • the lie that Obama had altered the White House logo to include a white flag of surrender (the logo change came from GWB's White House)
  • the lie that Muslims had been "ordered" to vote for Hillary;
  • the lie that Obama had encouraged millennial non-citizen Latinos to vote without fear of reprisals;
  • the lie that Clinton had a Vegas "drug holiday" before the debate;
  • the lie that Obama's birth certificate was not accepted by experts as genuine

Brown's sites are all included in Facebook's verified news sources. Brown is a Trump advisor, also identified by Trump's spokesperson as "a close friend." [1]
