Francis Powers was a Republican candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the 13th Congressional District (map) of New York. He was seeking the Republican nomination to replace incumbent Rep. Vito Fossella (D-N.Y.), who will retire at the end of his current term. Powers died in his home on Staten Island Sunday, June 22, 2008.[1]
