Biographical Information

"Gérard Mestrallet, born 1 April, 1949, French, is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale d’Administration. Mr Mestrallet joined Compagnie Financière de SUEZ in 1984, as a project manager. In 1986, he was appointed Executive Vice- President for industrial affairs. In February 1991, Mr Mestrallet was appointed Deputy Director and Chairman of the Management Committee of Société Générale de Belgique. In 1995, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Compagnie de SUEZ, then, in June 1997, Chairman of the Management Board of SUEZ Lyonnaise des Eaux. On 4 May, 2001, Mr Mestrallet was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SUEZ, a position he held until he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GDF SUEZ when SUEZ merged with Gaz de France on 22 July, 2008. He is also the President of Association Paris EUROPLACE." [1]
