General Cigar & Tobacco was a manufacturer of pipe tobacco. General Cigar & Tobacco is a unit of Culbro Corp. of New York in 1987 (WSJ 4/29/87). They were a defendant in the Root suit, which was dropped circa 1987 (WSJ 4/28/87). They were manufacturer of Mail Pouch smokeless tobacco in 1983 (E. Whelan 1984).
