Hylton M. Philipson "first explored the Amazon basin at the age of 17 and subsequently established Morgan Grenfell in Brazil at the age of 23. He was later Chief Executive of the investment bank Henry Ansbacher in New York.

"As Trustee of Rainforest Concern, Hylton has worked alongside the Commissao Pro-Indio do Acre in improving the quality of life of 650 Yawanawa people in the state of Acre, Brazil thereby helping to conserve their traditional territory of 200,000 hectares.

"As Trustee of the Global Canopy Programme, Hylton has worked closely with the Government of Amazonas on developing financial value for ecosystem services.

"Hylton established Wingate Ventures in 1990 providing corporate finance services to businesses making a positive contribution to the environment including:

- Agrivert – leading UK recycler of organic waste - Geothermal International - leading UK supplier of geothermal energy - Goingreen – suppliers of the G-Wiz electric car - Carbon Conservation Pty Ltd - Canopy Capital Ltd

"Canopy Capital and Carbon Conservation are at the forefront of initiatives to develop investment products to attract capital into the standing forests.

"Hylton has given interviews on the future of the Amazon to the Today programme on Radio 4, as well as BBC television. Hylton was a Guest Speaker at the Rainforest Gathering Conference at the Eden Project and at the Religion Science and Environment (RSE) Amazon Symposium." [1]
