John D. Gibson

John D. Gibson (commonly referred to as John Gibson) is currently Senior Counselor for Strategy and Policy Communications with Fannie Mae with responsibility for oversight of a staff of speechwriters.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae in 2003 Gibson worked as the Director for Foreign Policy Speechwriting for the National Security Council between 2000 and 2003 and Senior Director in 2003. According to his curriculum vitae provided to SourceWatch his responsibilities included supervision of "the writing, editing, and coordination of foreign policy speeches, statements, op-eds, video scripts, and other remarks for President George W. Bush and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice and for President Bill Clinton and National Security Advisor Samuel R. Berger (2000-01)" and assisting "in coordinating foreign policy strategic communications".

Between 1998 and 2000 he was Senior Counsel, White House Climate Change Task Force where he "coordinated policy development and strategic communications planning for interagency task force to address global warming ... Participated in diplomatic strategy development and outreach efforts to the environmental and business communities".
