Judy Richmond has been pre-selected by the Labor Party for the seat of Braddon for the Tasmanian state selection in March 2010.

In July 2009 Labor Premier David Bartlett issued a media release stating that "with 31 years of experience as a nurse – much of it at Latrobe’s Mersey Community Hospital – Judy brings a great understanding of Coastal health needs and ideas about solutions for the future. Her strong background in the health union movement and her long involvement in the North-West hockey scene also stamp Judy as a good candidate who is in touch with her community. Above all, Judy has a commitment to improving the lives of working people. Having raised two children as a single mother, I think she brings life experience that many people will identify with and value."[1]
