Maher Arar

Maher Arar is a Canadian citizen, who was the victim of extraordinary rendition while transiting through New York in 2002 [1].

In February 2005, the Arar Commission was established by the Canadian Government to inquire into the actions of Canadian officials in relation to Arar [2].

In October 2006, Arar won the Letelier-Moffitt International Human Rights Award. He used his acceptance speech to give a detailed account of his ordeal.[3]
