Dr. Marilyn Ketter Rittmeyer wrote in June 2001 an article for Jimmy Kilpatrick's EducationNews.org called "Best Gift for Mothers and Fathers". At the end of that article which can be found on the website of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution (AdTI), it says:

"Marilyn Keller Rittmeyer is a Ph.D. candidate at Northwestern University's School of Education, and co-founder of Thomas Jefferson Charter School in Des Plaines, Illinois. She is also a member of the National Education Association." [1]

At this moment she is a Teacher Choice Fellow of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution. 'Teacher Choice' (founded by Gregory Fossedal [2]) started in September 1998 with a mailing to teachers organized by AdTI. [3]

Marilyn Ketter Rittmeyer was already in 1999 [4] promoting the now defunct section 'Teacher Choice' on the website of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution.

The contact person for the Thomas Jefferson Charter School in Des Plaines, Illinois is according to the page Where are the Illlinois Charter Schools? "Dr. Marilyn Keller Rittmeyer". So most likely she is no longer a 'Ph.D. candidate'.
