Marriott (Marriott International, Inc.) has over 2,900 hotels in over 65 countries making it one of the world's largest hotel companies. The Marriott family, including CEO J. W. Marriott, Jr., owns about 15% of the company. [1] Brands include Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel luxury chain. [2]

Marriott gave $124,000 to federal candidates in the 2005/2006 election period through its political action committee - 23% to Democrats, 73% to Republicans, and 4% to other parties. [3]
