Maunsell in Australia are an engineering consultancy working on transport infrastructure and expanding into mining and energy. Maunsell merged with AECOM in 2000.

History

Their first project, in 1956 was the design of a bridge over the Derwent River in Hobart, Tasmania. (The bridge collapsed in 1975 when a ship carrying zinc concentrates rammed into a supporting pylon).

Since then Maunsell have managed the construction of many public projects in Australia including the Westlink M7 in Sydney and the North-South Bypass Tunnel under construction in Brisbane. Their biggest project to date is the construction of a 500 hectare tourism precinct in Al Raha Beach, United Arab Emirates.

They were chosen by the Australian Defence Force in 2006 to prepare an environmental assessment of the 2007 Taliman-Sabre Joint war games to take place at Shoalwater Bay Defence Training Area, near Yeppoon in Queensland. [1] (Pdf)
