Mel Washington "is Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for the EastWest Institute. In this capacity he is responsible for Finance and Administration, Human Resources, Public Affairs and Communications, Development and Information Technology.

"Before joining the EastWest Institute, Mel was the Chief Operating Officer for Human Rights First. He has also held executive level positions in Finance, Operations, and Strategy and Planning in the financial services and telecommunications sectors. His career includes successful stints with American Telephone & Telegraph, Salomon Brothers, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase and Citibank. Mel has also been actively involved with non-profits throughout his career, and has served on the Boards of several organizations in the New York City area and is currently on the Board of Hale House.
