Michael Whatley is a lobbyist for HBW Resources, which lobbies on behalf of the Alberta Tar Sands project. He also serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors of the energy industry front group, the Consumer Energy Alliance, which lobbies on behalf of extractive energy industries, like oil and methane gas. Whatley is a former Chief of Staff to Elizabeth Dole.
Whatley advocates in favor of the Keystone XL Pipeline project, saying it will create jobs, but he does not address the environmental aspects of the project.
