Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi's name is found spelled in a variety of ways, including Muamar Qaddafi, Muammar Gaddafi, Muammar Gadafi, etc.

"Thirty years ago, Muammar Gaddafi led a military coup that toppled King Idris and ended the monarchy in Libya. But since then," according to the BBC/UK, "he has ruled his country in the style of the most eccentric of absolute monarchs imaginable."

On October 20, 2011 Qaddafi was killed by rebel fighters in his hometown of Surt. [1]
