Bio

Background

Visclosky was born August 13, 1949, in Gary, Indiana and is serving his ninth term. He was educated at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and was a lawyer and staff member of the House of Representatives before entering the House. This is his first elected office.

Congressional career

2006 elections

In 2006, the Republicans nominated Mark J. Leyva to face Visclosky in his November 2006 bid for reelection. (See U.S. congressional elections in 2006) [1] Visclosky retained his seat.
