Pew Research Center for The People and The Press is "an independent opinion research group that studies attitudes toward the press, politics and public policy issues. ... best known for regular national surveys that measure public attentiveness to major news stories, and for ... polling that charts trends in values and fundamental political and social attitudes." The Center was formerly known as the Times Mirror Center for the People & the Press (1990-1995). It is sponsored by The Pew Charitable Trusts.

American Perceptions of the War in Iraq

In February, 2008, the Center's surveying found that "Public perceptions of the situation in Iraq have become significantly more positive over the past several months, even as opinions about the initial decision to use military force remain mostly negative and unchanged."[1]
