Phil Fishman "has been an Assistant Director of the AFL-CIO’s International Affairs Department since 1991. He is responsible for overseeing the Federation’s policies and programs in Asia and is the International Affairs Department’s primary liaison with the U.S. government. For the past 11 years, he has been a worker member of the U.S. delegation to the annual International Labor Conference (UN-ILO) where he sits on the Committee on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CACR). In addition to representing the AFL-CIO, he has been the chief workers’ spokesperson on many important country cases considered by the committee including the historic, ongoing discussion on Burma and forced labor. Prior to joining the AFL-CIO, Mr. Fishman worked for the AFL-CIO’s Asian American Free Labor Institute (AAFLI). While with AAFLI, he served over twelve years overseas as the AFL-CIO Country Representative in the Philippines (1979-82), South Korea (1982-1986), and Thailand (1986-91)." [1]
