Richard Warren Pollay, Ph.D. is an advertising historian, Professor of Marketing and Curator of Advertising Archives at the University of British Columbia. Richard W. Pollay was curator of the History of Advertising Archives at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. in 1994 (LAT 9/18/94).

Pollay has reported several documents including personal papers donated to the State Historical Society of Wisconsin by John W. Richard Warren Pollay holds an MBA and Ph.D. in Consumer Behavior from the University of Chicago. He has had a distinguished academic career and has written and lectured extensively on cigarette advertising. He is considered to be a leading scholar whose work has appeared in prominent academic journals and conferences. His work includes various assessments of cigarette marketing, advertising, and consumer attitudes. He serves on many prestigious editorial review boards and his work has received numerous commendations.(State of Florida's Proposed Plaintiff's Disclosure of Expert Witnesses, 2/5/97) His area of expertise includes a historical overview on how consumer attitudes have been affected by the tobacco industry's public relations, self-regulation, advertising, marketing and labeling campaigns.
