Scott T. Rumana is a Republican member of the New Jersey state Assembly. He serves on the following Committees: Education, Bipartisan Leadership Committee; Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities; Joint Committee on the Public Schools."[1]

Rumana, in a May 1, 2009 press release, cited an American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) anti-union and anti-tax report that Rumana supported. The report read, it "show[s] that New Jersey’s high personal and corporate income taxes, along with pro-union policies and a lack of 'tax or expenditure limits' point to a dismal economic future for the Garden State. The authors of the report said, 'We remind lawmakers that levying tax increases is not a sustainable answer for budget problems. Especially during an economic downturn, states need to be doing everything they can to become more competitive, not less.'”[2]
Support for ALEC Model Legislation
In 2010, Americans for Prosperity (a Koch Family Foundations front group) named 17 New Jersey legislators “Health Care Heroes” for their support of bringing a legal challenge against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This proposal mirrors the ALEC-written “Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act.”[3]
