Soda Springs Power Plant Project

In January 2007, Mountain Island Energy Holdings (MIEH) proposed to build a 250 MW IGCC coal plant at Soda Springs, Idaho. MIEH was formed by Mountain Island Energy LLC and United Fund Advisors LLC in order to apply for federal coal project tax credits. Mountain Island Energy is a subsidiary of Terra Systems. According to Terra Systems, the plant was to use pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) technology rather than traditional IGCC, because IGCC is less efficient at elevation and less proven with western coals [1].
According to the Sierra Club, MIEH appears to have abandoned plans to build the Soda Springs power plant in 2007.[2]
