Congresspedia's Wiki-The-Vote project contains profiles of every candidate running for Congress, plus ones on Barack Obama and John McCain. We need your help to fill these profiles in with the candidates' positions on the important issues.

How to do it

  1. First, open the Wiki The Vote project homepage and select the state of the candidate(s) you'd like to research (see below with special instructions for Barack Obama and John McCain).
  2. Go to their profile and click "edit" under the section on their record and controversies. (If you haven't yet done so, you'll need to get a log-in name, which you can do here).
  3. Fill that section in with information you find through the voting scorecards, Congresspedia articles, endorsements and issue positions, all of which are listed at the help page on how to research congressional records and positions. Or, please add any other information you've found online that you think should be there.

That's it! If you need any help, be sure to email staff editor Avelino Maestas at amaestas@sunlightfoundation.com.

Special instructions for John McCain and Barack Obama

We've broken McCain and Obama's records and positions down into several sub-articles due to their length. To add information to a particular section, simply find its summary on the main Barack Obama or John McCain pages and then click the "main article" link in it. This will take you to one of the sub-articles, where you find links to specific external research resources for finding information and where you can add it in.
