< back to the "Congresspedia transition" page

We need to update our state portals so the new site will have nice state-by-state pages.

This involves:

  • Removing the 2008 candidates
  • Subbing out freshmen for departed members

If you have any problems while doing this, please email Conor for assistance.

Instructions

Select any state from the map below:
<us_map redirect="Portal:{state} and the U.S. Congress" />

  1. If it still has a candidate box in the "Senators, representatives and candidates" section, come back to this page and add your name next to the state in the chart below so no one else tries to work on it at the same time.
  2. Scroll down and click the "edit" at the top of the "Senators, representatives and candidates" section.
  3. Hit the "edit" tab for the whole article.
  4. Delete everything starting with the "===Candidates===" line down to, but not including, the "===Representatives===" line. Save.
  5. Open the page on freshman members of the 111th Congress. Replace any departing incumbents in your Representatives and Senators charts.
    • The names of the images should be the person's full name with no spaces and only the first letter capitalized, followed by a ".jpg". For example, John Adler's picture is at "Johnadler.jpg". Some freshmen may have irregular image names, in which case you can find it by selecting the picture on the freshman members' page.
  6. You're done!

Check-off for completed states

Please enter your username (or just "complete", if you like) in the box below that corresponds with the state you've finished. You may also want to note any states that you've started to prevent edit conflicts.
