Specific foundation grants to CRC

While most of the grants to the Capital Research Center from conservative foundations have been for general operating support, a handful have been for specific foundation grants to CRC including:

  • $5,000 in 1987 from the Charles G. Koch Foundation for "the Olasky Project";
  • $25,000 in 1990 from the John M. Olin Foundation "to support a research associate in environmentalism and philanthrop";
  • $40,820 in 1990 from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation to "support a study of the animal rights movement in the U.S. and the subsequent publishing of the study's findings";
  • $25,000 in 1993 from the Scaife Family Foundation for "philanthropy culture and society" (with another $25,000 following the following year and a further $25,000 in 1997 and another $50,000 in 1998);
  • $25,000 in 1993 from the John M. Olin Foundation to "support a report on the politicization of charity";
  • $40,000 in 1993 from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation to "support an analysis of the Union Institute's report entitled The Nonprofit Policy Agenda:Recommendations for State and Local Action";
  • $25,000 in 1994 from the John M. Olin Foundation for "book on the environmental movement and nonprofit advocacy groups";
  • $7500 in 1995 from the Earhart Foundation "to support preparation of a book, Environmentalism at a crossroads: green activism in the 1990s, Jonathan Adler, Research Principal"; (see Jonathan H. Adler)
  • $5000 in 1995 from the JM Foundation "to support research and publications on the role of non-profit agencies and private grantmakers in American society";
  • $12,000 in 1996 from the Earhart Foundation to "support preparation of a monograph on the international environmental movement, James Sheehan, Research Principal"; and
  • $15,000 in 2000 from the Earhart Foundation "to prepare a book, Mandate for Charity'". [1]
