Steven Salzberg

Steven Salzberg is a Professor of Medicine and Biostatistics in the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins University's School of Medicine. Until mid-2011, he was Professor and Director of the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to joining UMD, he worked at The Institute for Genomic Research, where he worked sequencing the genomes of many bacteria. There, he also worked on the Human Genome Project and he was the co-founder of the influenza virus sequencing project. He received his B.A and M.S. from Yale University and his Ph.D. at Harvard University.[1] Salzberg writes for Forbes where he "fights pseudoscience." He focuses on advocating for the use, safety, and effectiveness of vaccines, and has also advocated the use of genetic engineering in agriculture.
