Ambassador Stuart Holliday was named the new President of Meridian International Center in July 2006. (He "succeeds Ambassador Walter Cutler, who has served as the President of Meridian for the past 17 years.)

"Ambassador Holliday served from 2003 to 2005 as United States Ambassador for Special Political Affairs at the United Nations, where his primary duties involved representing the United States on issues in the U.N. Security Council. He also served as Coordinator of the State Department’s Bureau of International Information Programs and as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. He earlier served as Special Assistant to President George W. Bush. Among his other activities, Ambassador Holliday was Executive Director of the Dallas World Affairs Council, and most recently was a Director at Quinn Gillespie & Associates in Washington.

"Ambassador Holliday is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and holds a Masters degree from the London School of Economics. He served on active and reserve duty as an officer in the U. S. Navy for seven years. He and his wife, Gwen, have two children." [1]

"Ambassador Holliday is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations; the education chair of YPO’s Global Diplomacy and Policy Group; and on the Board of Directors for both the Council of American Ambassadors and IFES (The International Foundation for Electoral Systems). He is also serves on the National Advisory Board of Public Insight, LP (investments)." [1]
