- Another announcement, made by FreedomWorks in the Cato Institute's Social Security This Week August 20, 2004, weekly newsletter, stated that it was created as a result of the "merger of Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), Jack Kemp's Empower America, and the Republican Liberty Caucus." However, the Caucus' website does not indicate that it was part of the merger. This is completely inaccurate and FreedomWorks has no formal affiliation
What the Cato newsletter stated was "Freedom Works, the result of the recent merger between Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) and Jack Kemp’s Empower America, and the Republican Liberty Caucus are currently on a Social Security tour, leading townhall meetings about options for reform."
From this it is clear that the Republican Liberty Caucus was not a part of the merger but was jointly involved with FreedomWorks in running a Social Security tour. Two very different things.--Bob Burton 20:37, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
