"Wiki wars" tweaking Shaheen info here and in Wikipedia

On July 2 and again on July 13, similar edits showed up in this article and in Jeanne Shaheen's bio on Wikipedia, with some more edits by Nhdem2 on July 24.

The gist of these edits? A complete re-casting of this article to emphasize statements made by Shaheen in 2002, now conveniently online in tightly-edited videos.

The YouTube videos show Shaheen responding to questions, saying she would have voted for the first set of Bush tax cuts and to authorize him to declare War in Iraq. Contemporary documents confirm these positions (http://archive.seacoastonline.com/2002news/hampton/11012002/news/32345.htm ) which were shared back then by many Democrats ( http://www.concordmonitor.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070712/REPOSITORY/707120331/1043/NEWS01 ) .

The emphasis placed on these two issues--and the attempted implication that Shaheen's views never changed after 2002--are sterling examples of exactly the kind of "spin" that SourceWatch exists to debunk.

If someone wants to add information about Shaheen's platform in 2002, she was much more concerned about the privatization of social security and the unfunded mandates of "No Child Left Behind." (said Betsy Devine)

New front in the wiki war

Add Wikiquote.org to the targets of NhDem on July 2, 14, and 24. [1] Wikiquote is supposed to be a sourcebook of notable quotations from notable people. But for "Nhdem" it was just one more unprotected public forum for posting misleading information about Jeanne Shaheen in the shape of isolated quotes from 2002. Betsy Devine 15:22, 2 August 2007 (EDT)
