Thomas Patrick "is chairman of New Vernon Capital, LLC. Previously, he served as executive vice chairman of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., from 2002 to his retirement in August 2003.

"From 2000-2002, Patrick served as Merrill Lynch's executive vice president and chief financial officer. Previously, from 1994-1999, he served as executive vice president and chairman of the firm's Special Advisory Services Group. Patrick served from 1992-1994 as executive vice president, Equity Markets Group, with responsibility for the firm's equity business worldwide. From 1990-1992, he was executive vice president of insurance, managing the origination and distribution of annuity and life insurance products to Merrill Lynch clients.

"Patrick served as chief financial officer of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. during 1989 and 1990, overseeing the firm's treasury, controller, credit, tax, audit and purchasing operations.

"As managing director of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets from 1982 to 1989, Patrick advised major corporate clients on the development of customized, proprietary financing securities, on mergers and acquisitions, and on complex financial strategies aimed at meeting specific corporate objectives and maximizing the value of assets.

"Prior to joining Merrill Lynch's Chicago operations in 1982, Patrick served for three years as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Life Investors Inc., a Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based holding company for eight insurance subsidiaries.

"Patrick is also a member of the board of directors for Baldwin & Lyons, Inc., Computer Sciences Corporation, and New Vernon Capital LLC." [1]
