The United Nations Foundation/Better World Fund was established in 1998 with Ted Turner's $1 billion gift to support United Nations work.

On its website the foundation states that it "builds and implements public-private partnerships to address the world's most pressing problems, and broadens support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach." [1]
