Vijay is a "scholar and prolific writer on the complexities of race in a multiracial society. His recent books include Untouchable Freedom: A Social History of the Dalits (Oxford University Press, 1999), The Karma of Brown Folk: A History of South Asians in the U.S. (University of Minnesota Press, 2000), and Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting: Afro-Asian Connections and the Myth of Cultural Purity (Beacon Press, 2001). He is a frequent contributor to Frontline (India), Himal (Nepal), Colorlines, Monthly Review, Z Magazine, Dollars & Sense, and Utne Reader." [1]
