Of counsel to Jones and Walker, "Russell King received his bachelor of business administration degree, cum laude, in 1971, and his juris doctor degree in 1974 from the University of Georgia. Mr. King was in private practice in Savannah, Georgia from 1974–1975. In late 1975, he joined the Office of United States Senator Herman E. Talmadge in Washington D.C. as Legislative Assistant and Counsel and, subsequently, Legislative Director, where he was responsible for tax, trade, energy, and agricultural issues. In 1979, Mr. King moved to Atlanta, Georgia to join Southern Railway as Special Representative. He returned to Washington, D.C. in 1980, as Counsel to Freeport Minerals Company.

"Mr. King currently serves as Senior Vice President of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, an international natural resource company, as well as Senior Vice President of McMoRan Exploration Company, an independent oil and gas exploration company headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"Mr. King joined Jones Walker in 2001 and represents Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold and McMoRan Exploration Inc., on policy matters before the United States Congress and federal agencies, as well as before the Governments of Indonesia, Chile, Peru, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Algeria."
