Biographical Information

"Waheed is an independent management consultant specialising in the public and voluntary sectors. He was previously the Locality Director in Birmingham PCT where he managed commissioning for a population of 150,000 and a budget of £200million. He has previously held a number of positions with primary care trusts and hospital trusts, and worked as a programme manager for a drugs and regeneration partnership in the West Midlands.

"In addition Waheed has gained strategic level experience as Board Director of a number of major national and regional public and voluntary organisations, including UK Sustainable Development Commission, National Crime Squad, Nacro’s Children and Crime Committee, Meat Hygiene Advisory Committee, Rail Passenger Committee, Government Office West Midlands, the Lunar Society and Sustainability West Midlands, where he chaired the first West Midlands 50 Green Leaders judging panel.

"He has previously led major regeneration programmes and advised Government on neighbourhood renewal policy and community development and participated in a special feature for Regeneration and Renewal magazine on future regeneration skills. He also undertakes assessments for post medical education and training for the GMC, has been instrumental in developing a leadership programme with the Young Foundation for young people, sits on the Birmingham Leadership Foundation and mentors inner city school pupils for Mosaic, a Prince of Wales Charity.

"Waheed graduated from the London School of Economics in Social Policy and is a fellow of the RSA. He is strongly committed to a socially inclusive crime reduction policy, tackling social exclusion and promoting equality of opportunity. Waheed lives in the West Midlands."[1]
