William H. Donner Foundation

The William H. Donner Foundation was "first established in 1932 as the International Cancer Research Foundation [and] in 1945 became the Donner Foundation, located in New York City."[1] Also see Independence Foundation.

The Foundation is an IRS approved 501(c)3 nonprofit, and on its site announces that, "in January 1999, the Trustees adopted the following grant policy: 1. The Foundation henceforward does not accept, and therefore does not acknowledge, unsolicited proposals. 2. Only applications invited by the Foundation will be considered for support ... The William H. Donner Foundation is now managed by: FIDES Philanthropic Management and Advisory Services, LLC."[2]

About William H. Donner

"William H. Donner was one of the 20th century's most enterprising entrepreneurs. He invested in real estate, founded the National Tin Plate Company, co-founded Union Steel, and established the International Cancer Research Foundation. Mr. Donner moved to Canada in his retirement, where he died in 1953."[1]
